Happy Team Up Tuesday, friends! I am so excited to introduce another sweet friend who has walked with me on my path to Peek-A-Boo Speech. Beth Frook has been more than a mentor, she has been a confidante and inspiration when it comes to my decision making. You can find out more about Beth on her website Little Hands.
There are some colleagues who become friends, and some friends who become part of the treasured circle of support in a life – Vanessa is one of those treasured people in my life.
We became colleagues in 2007 when her family moved to Virginia. She had been a successful music educator and business owner in Georgia, and I was thrilled when she decided to join our team at Little Hands Music! On a picnic bench that summer, we set off on a fun path of teamwork, collaboration and chasing dreams together. “You can do this!” is what we often say to each other – whether it’s teaching a VERY large group of children out of the comfort zone early on or putting ourselves “out there” in the teacher professional development space more recently, we have cheered each other on to the next challenge.
Our professional connection draws us into many deep discussions about children, parenting, education, and the “why’s” of our passion – how children grow and learn, and what we as adults can do to facilitate healthy development. We have discovered many avenues to live out that passion, Vanessa in her endless pursuit of academic growth with certifications in Infant Massage, and other skills, and a Masters in Speech and Language, and my work with early childhood educators, using music as a tool for learning, and now Parent Coaching certification to work more directly with parents! Together we have presented at a local NAEYC conference, and offered teacher training, parent education, and other professional development events. Weekly we chat to plan, catch up, and as is so often the case, our personal friendship has grown as a result.
