One of the questions that I get asked is: What is Peek-a-Boo Speech’s travel radius?
When I moved from Columbus, GA to Alexandria, VA my idea of a commute was 10 minutes…and even 10 minutes seemed long! My wake up call came when I attended my first meeting with my director. When I inquired about the distance to our meet up, her response was “It’s only 30 minutes.” Only 30 minutes? My mind wrestled with this information, surely Northern Virginia residents could not be that nonchalant about driving!
That was 2007 and, 18 years later, my mindset has obviously shifted to accommodate these East Coast commutes. Over the years I have studied traffic patterns, learned where and when to travel, experienced gridlock (due to weather or an accident more than once), and paid astronomical tolls to get to my destinations. I have celebrated the opening of the express lanes on 495 and watched and wondered how far down 95 they would go.
As a mobile business, I used my experience living in NOVA to decide on a travel radius. These areas include Alexandria, Fairfax on Braddock Road, Crystal City/Arlington, Lorton, and Woodbridge. Taking into consideration the words spoken over 18 years ago “It’s only 30 minutes” my travel time is 30 minutes or less. This way I can maximize my time to see as many Peek-a-Boo Speech clients as possible.
