Frequently Asked Questions Friday

November 7, 2025

Hello friends, and happy November! With this new month, I wanted to add another feature to the blog that may help anyone looking for a speech therapist. Since I’m a fan of catchy alliteration, I’m introducing FAQ Friday! Although I have a tab on this main page of Frequently Asked Questions, here are some of the more popular inquiries when it comes to my practice.

Does Peek-a-Boo Speech take insurance?

Yes! Peek-a-boo Speech is proud to offer insurance as an affordable option for families. Insurance helps reduce out-of-pocket expenses, which makes speech therapy more accessible. At this time, Peek-a-boo Speech is an in-network provider for the following insurances:

  1. Aetna
  2. BCBS
  3. Cigna
  4. Kaiser Permanente
  5. Tricare

Here’s how it works:
Peek-a-Boo Speech’s team will call an insurance company for explanation of benefits, and follow up with an intake form to fill out through the electronic medical record Jane. (If you are unfamiliar with Jane, you can read more about it here.) Once explanation of benefits is confirmed, an evaluation is typically scheduled within 1-2 weeks. Before the scheduled evaluation, an intake form will be completed to document relevant developmental history, medical history, family history, and parent concerns.
An evaluation is an opportunity for Peek-a-Boo Speech to learn more about your child and the concerns you have. The evaluation will typically take 1 hour and will focus on your child’s language, speech, literacy and play skills. If additional concerns are found which are outside of the scope of Peek-a-Boo Speech a consult may be recommended to an audiologist, dentist, ear nose and throat doctor (ENT) or a related therapy discipline (occupational or physical therapy).
Therapy typically begins two weeks after the initial evaluation if the results of a child’s evaluation warrant treatment.

I hope this helps answer any insurance questions with Peek-A-Boo Speech! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions that you’d like answered privately, or in future blog posts.
